Privacy Policy
— In short
We collect nothing. The game has no accounts, no analytics and no server of ours, so your progress and settings never leave your device. The only data that leaves your phone goes to Google, which serves the ads and handles the one-time ad-removal purchase.
01 Who we are
The Simplest Rogue Battle Balls (the “Game”) is made and published by What Else Labs, a sole proprietor (個人事業主) based in Japan.
Questions about this policy or your data: privacy@whatelselabs.com
02 What we collect: nothing
The Game contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry. We operate no server for it. It never sends your game data anywhere, and we have no way to identify you or see how you play.
This is unusual, so to be explicit: there is no account to create, nothing to log in to, no profile, no chat, no user-generated content, and no social features.
03 What is stored on your device
The Game saves the following on your device so it can remember where you left off. This file stays on your phone and is not transmitted by us:
- Display theme
- Vibration setting
- Whether you have purchased ad removal
- Difficulty tiers completed
- Deepest round reached in each tier
- Upgrades discovered
- Total rounds played
Uninstalling the Game deletes this file. One thing outside our control: if you have Android's own backup feature switched on, Android may copy this file to your Google Drive under your Google account. That copy is governed by your agreement with Google, not by us.
04 What third parties collect
Two Google services operate inside the Game. They are the only parties that receive data from it.
Google AdMob — rewarded video ads
AdMob collects your advertising ID, IP address, device and operating-system information, and how you interact with ads. It uses these to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same one, prevent fraud, and measure performance. Personalised advertising is used only where you have consented to it.
Google Play Billing — the “remove ads” purchase
If you buy the one-time ad removal, Google processes the payment. All payment details are handled by Google: we never see or have access to your card number or billing information. We receive only whether the purchase is active.
Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and, for advertising specifically, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
05 Purpose of use
Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (the “APPI”) requires us to state why information is used. The information described above is used only for:
- Delivering and displaying advertising in the Game, including limiting repeats and measuring performance
- Preventing advertising fraud and abuse
- Processing and restoring the one-time ad-removal purchase
- Answering you if you contact us by email
We do not use it for anything else, and we do not sell it.
06 Your advertising ID, and how to reset it
The advertising ID is a resettable identifier that Android gives to apps for advertising. It is not your name or your email, and you can change or remove it at any time.
On most Android devices:
- Open Settings
- Tap Google
- Tap All services (on some versions, go straight to the next step)
- Tap Ads
- Choose Delete advertising ID to stop apps receiving it, or Reset advertising ID to get a new one that is not linked to the old
The exact wording and path vary by Android version and manufacturer. Deleting the ID does not remove ads; it means the ads you see are no longer based on it.
07 Transfer outside Japan
The data described in section 04 is provided to Google LLC and may be stored and processed on servers in the United States and other countries where Google operates.
The United States has no single comprehensive national data protection law equivalent to the APPI; protection depends on sector-specific laws and on the recipient's own commitments. Google LLC publishes its safeguards and is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. We provide this information so you can understand the destination and the protections in place before you use the Game, as the APPI requires.
08 Consent to personalised advertising
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the Game shows you a consent prompt (Google's User Messaging Platform) before any personalised advertising is used. You can accept or decline, and declining still lets you play the Game.
You can change your answer at any time from the privacy options in the Game's settings screen.
09 Children
The Game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them — as noted above, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child's information has been collected through the Game, email privacy@whatelselabs.com and we will help. For data held by Google, we will point you to the right route to reach them.
10 Your rights
Under the APPI, you may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or cessation of use of retained personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold none, but you are welcome to ask and we will say so in writing.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to access your data, to have it erased, to object to processing, and to data portability.
One practical note: because the advertising and payment data is collected by Google rather than by us, requests about that data usually have to go to Google. Email us and we will tell you where to send it.
11 Retention
We retain no personal data from the Game, so there is nothing for us to delete. Data on your device stays until you uninstall the Game or clear its data. Data held by Google is retained according to Google's own policies. If you email us, we keep the message only as long as needed to deal with it.
12 Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version appears on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant — for example if the Game ever begins collecting something — we will say so clearly in the Game or its store listing before it takes effect.
